E-zine Advertising, An Affordable Alternative To Google

You want your website to be at the top of the search engines search result page, that way, you can get some free targeted traffic, and save money on advertising.  However, this has been very difficult especially when you factor in the competition.

Google’s pay per click advertising is an excellent alternative, except, It can be costly, depending on your keywords. In addition to that, you will have to pay for the clicks of the curious tire kickers, the ones who will buy nothing.

There is however, an even better, and affordable option: E-zine Advertising, that is, advertising in on-line magazines.

Let’s do a conservative comparison: suppose you ran an ad in an e-zine with a readership of 20,000 and that ad cost you $30.00.and only 5% of the readers click on your ad which is 1000 clicks (I’m assuming you have written a compelling ad. If not, no avenue of advertising will help!) In terms of cost per click it would amount to 0.03 cents per click.

But, compare that to a pay per click ad in google or yahoo, where you would have to bid the highest for the keywords that will trigger your ad to display before the searcher/potential customer. Lets say you bid on a keyword like “exercise equipment,” To get a realistic display you would have to bid at least 10 cents or more per click. If 1000 people clicked on your ad like they did in the e-zine ad. you would pay $100.00 or more for a pay per click ad in google or yahoo.

Which would you rather pay $30.00 for a e-zine ad or $100.00 or more for a pay per click ad, for the same amount of clicks?

Another thing to consider is this, when you disable your google ad, the flow of traffic from that source stops. But, when it comes to e-zine ads, many e-zine publishers archive their past issues. When people read an issue from a few weeks ago, and if your ad is in that issue,
that will be additional exposure for your website without you paying extra money for it. This is not be done with ppc advertising. Couple this with the use of an auto responder and you’ll save even more money in the long run.

To make it quick and easy for webmasters to find on-line magazines to advertise in, the “Directory of Ezines” has a database of e-zines with a wide range of topics, so you can find the right one to advertise in for your particular product or service. If you had to gather this
information on your own. it would take you a very long time.

With stiff competition in S.E.O. and PPC advertising. It’s good to know that e-zine advertising provides an affordable, targeted and effective alternative for website owners and affiliate marketers to reach more customers and earn more money.

There’s A New Search Engine In Town, and It’s Really Cuil!

By Paul Ranger

A new search engine has surfaced, and it is called “cuil.” I believe it is pronounced “cool” Their website suggest you’ll have over 121,6 billion web pages available to search through. They claim to search more pages than anyone else. In their comparison with the others they say they search, “three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.”

They also say, “rather than rely on superficial popularity metrics, Cuil searches for and ranks pages based on their content and relevance…” That to me sound almost like google, except for the popularity part. Google does deliver results based on the popularity of a particular page. The more popular the page, the more chance that the web page will end up on the first search result on, but, is more interested in relevance. Certainly, if you have a business to run on-line the new differences are very important. Where your page was lost before, it may now be found.

If what is promising they’re able to deliver, It may prove what the experts have been saying, “content is king” What that means is even if you have good and relevant content, but, lack popularity with google because other websites didn’t link to you as much as the other website with the similar content, You may do better in the new search engine if you have better content in the way of relevance to the searched keyword or phrases. Therefore you may need to improve on your content. Of course this is speculation on my part. It is a conclusion based on what They say further on the page, “When we find a page with your keywords, we stay on that page and analyze the rest of its content, its concepts, their inter-relationships and the page’s coherency.” That seems like a hint to improve one’s content if you want your page to be found. This to me, would be another great equalizer; where as the big sites are able to buy links to satisfy google’s algorithm, or pay a staff to write content for them, You won’t necessarily have to compete with their deep pockets to be found. You don’t have to pay a lot of money for good accurate content even though it may happen slower for you.

Whether you are selling a product on-line or just posting ads, content in relation to your product or theme is still important for visibility on both Google and the new Some like myself, have found that submitting free articles (which is content) to websites such as and other sites like it, help to increase my page popularity with google. (My mistake was not continuing to write since 2006, until recently, plus one link is out dated, and I lost the ranking because I didn’t deliver new content. ) Many people will go to and extract my article with my links which points back to my site, then, they’ll post my article on their site which allows me to get many links back to my site. However, since is not interested in popularity but content and relevance, then, it seems using original good content on your site which they may present to someone searching for what you have, even though, you may not show up at least on the first page on google. This might be a way to cover bases in both places.

If is to make a positive difference in the world of search for both searcher and website owners. more people will have to be aware of, and use this new search tool. Although cuil is not paying me, I don’t mind getting the word out. Competition is good for the market place. I hope cuil will be cool.
